reported by X5 Group, the system will increase the efficiency of warehouse processes, ensure the movement and transparency of all inventory located at the DC, reduce the number of operations, minimize errors that lead to additional costs, and also create a technological basis for subsequent robotization and automation of the company's warehouses.
to the new system. It is being argentina whatsapp number database tested at four distribution centers of the Pyaterochka retail chain in Obninsk, Yekaterinburg, Krasnodar and Omsk, as well as at the distribution center of the Perekrestok retail chain in Voronezh.
Anton Mironenkov, Managing Director of X5 Technologies, explained how the decision to create our own system was made: "After foreign vendors left the market and analyzed the available alternatives, we were faced with the fact that the solutions of Russian companies do not 100% cover the needs of our business, including in terms of volume, loads, speed, scale and sustainability. Moreover, we seriously thought about the possibility of a comprehensive expansion of functionality, including for the purposes of automation and robotization of our DCs. And I can say with confidence that we have managed to create a world-class warehouse management system at the level of advanced European and American analogues."
The X5 press service informed ComNews that Nexus WMS replaced the foreign Exceed system in Perekrestok and Exceed and Manhattan in Pyaterochka in four distribution centers across Russia for the testing period.
The project team consisted of up to 135 people. X5 technology stack: Java, React js, Kubernetes, Kafka, Kamunda. A year and eight months were allocated for the development of the boxed version, the company's press service reported.
Representatives of large retail chains responded to ComNews' request briefly, but their answers clearly illustrate the polar situation with import substitution of software in the industry.
"VkusVill" uses the following warehouse management programs: 1C WMS ("1C MP Warehouse") - the programs are our own development," the company's press service responded to a ComNews correspondent. They declined to discuss the product from X5, as they are unfamiliar with it.
In contrast to VkusVill, the Lenta company mainly uses foreign software, although the business process is also supported by Russian software products.
"We use SAP EWM to manage the warehouse and do not plan to change the system in the near future, since it meets our needs for warehouse management. Our IT team has all the necessary competencies to support and develop SAP EWM. For the picking process, we use a mobile application from a Russian developer, and we are also piloting another domestic solution for voice selection in warehouses," Yulia Trusova, head of the Logistics domain at Lenta, told ComNews.
Independent expert on IT and telecom markets Vadim Plesskiy assessed the prospects of Nexus WMS in a conversation with a ComNews correspondent: "There is nothing wrong with the fact that X5 Group decided to develop its own product for warehouse inventory management. This suggests that a product of such complexity can be developed independently, within the framework of one company. Selling the solution to someone else will be problematic - other large retailers will also want to have their own solution. A good option would be joint work on an industry solution within the framework of the Open Source model, but most Russian companies are not ready for this yet."
About 85% of X5's warehouse operations have been transferred
