There are no analogues

Post by tanjimajuha20 »

Editor-in-ChiefComNewsLeonid Konik noted: despite the fact that import substitution began "not yesterday and not even in 2022", it is obvious that this path has not yet been completed. Therefore, it is necessary to find out what needs to be done in this direction in the next year and a half.

The Director of Information Technology at RN-BashNIPIneft, Timofey Zagurenko, recalled the aphorism from Alice in Wonderland that in order to stay in one place, you need to run very fast. "We have exactly this feeling. Rosneft has been systematically developing functional software in different blocks for a long time. We, the scientific block, are responsible for engineering software. The program has been developing since 2014, many blocks are closed. But there is still something to strive for - for example, we are actively developing seismic software and plan to engage in modeling chemical processes," said Timofey Zagurenko.

Ilya Yakimov, Head of Digital croatia whatsapp resource Development and Support of Production Processes at SIBUR Digital, noted that while there are no particular problems with the functional software that companies develop for their own needs, the creation of system-wide and specialized software for data transfer and database management is the main problem.

"It is difficult to move in this direction at the moment, and in my opinion, we have a long way to go to replace all of this. And the most important thing is that at the moment it is necessary to change fairly high-quality products that everyone is accustomed to, which everyone has learned to support, and it is difficult to switch from them, because they are built into critically important processes. And let's hope that in the near future our domestic products will appear that we can use without any additional work, quickly and efficiently," noted Ilya Yakimov.

Alexander Lachugin, Director of Information Technology and Data Management at Nova Energy LLC, noted that his company recently faced the need to replace software from a foreign vendor.

"We have encountered the fact that there are no analogues at all on the Russian market. Not a single vendor can provide a replacement for even a simple system, for example, for quality management on the site. And with most of the vendors who offered us software, we have encountered the fact that they do not have an understanding of the processes themselves. Because of this, they cannot provide us with the necessary software that would suit us for the implementation of large-scale projects. My message is that vendors should immerse themselves in the examination of problems, in the problems of companies and provide solutions, and not ask us what we need to do for our money," said Alexander Lachugin.

Vladimir Savkin, Director of the Information Technology Department at Transneft, noted that since Russian developers do not have analogs for many specialized software, technology companies will have to write it themselves. "A lot of specialized software will have to be rewritten, and the main difficulties are related to the fact that there are no Russian analogs - that is, we will probably have to create it ourselves. But even if similar Russian software exists, there will be a lot of work to do in terms of adapting this software to Russian import-substituting databases and Russian operating systems. And the resources that will have to be invested in this, it seems to me, are colossal. And this is a problem not only for our industries that have gathered here today, but for any industry in general. Rewriting already working software to Russian Linux is a rather labor-intensive story, because from the outset we understand that until 2022 everything was tailored for completely different technologies," said Vladimir Savkin.
