Once upon a time… the Lisbon Digital School

Post by muskanislam99 »

Telling the story of Lisbon Digital School, and sharing it with everyone who is part of it and follows us, is a very rewarding responsibility.

Lisbon Digital School is made of stories, I would even say that our main story is being able to help our students build their own stories.

Virginia Coutinho
Our school was born from the dream and entrepreneurial spirit of an incredible woman, Virgínia Coutinho, a great reference in Digital Marketing.

Virgínia returns to Portugal after a few years away, having worked for companies such as SocialBakers and Facebook, and decides, with her entrepreneurial spirit and passion for education, to create a training school dedicated to teaching Digital Marketing.

Lisbon Digital School is here to make a difference, to position itself overseas data in the teaching of these subjects with boldness and disruption. With the mission of combating digital illiteracy in our country, and to empower a new generation with digital skills to become more competitive and contribute to the digital transformation that Portugal so desperately needs. A transformation that begins with each one of us.

It was very clear what could make the difference for a project like this to be a success: all the trainers being experienced professionals who are active in the job market, the focus on digital, and the very practical component of the training.

April 18th will always be a date of celebration for us.

The day LDS was born, in 2018, celebrating this year its 6th anniversary.

A project that started with one person, and with a lot of hard work and resilience, now has a team of 8 people. And we are no longer a project. We are a culture, a mission, a community.

On this path, there were difficult days, because being an entrepreneur is not an easy journey. Creating a brand, without support, with the difficulties that an entrepreneur faces in our country, was an arduous process.

We toasted each small achievement: an edition of a course or masterclass that closed with a quorum, positive feedback from a professional in the field, or a positive response from a brand willing to work with LDS.

But persistence and resilience never abandoned us and, with the purpose and mission of LDS so well defined: “ contributing to the digital literacy of our country ”, we knew that the path was forward.

In 2020, we were hit by a pandemic that jeopardized our project, as LDS only taught classes in person.

It was one of the biggest challenges we have faced, but we reinvented ourselves, adapted our training to the online format and managed to recreate as closely as possible the experience we deliver to our students in the face-to-face model.

The pandemic has accelerated something that was already planned, but had been postponed: live online training.

The pandemic, which was debilitating for many businesses and sectors, reflected the opposite in the case of Lisbon Digital School.

It was the moment when brands became aware of the importance of digital. Those who didn't have social media wanted to be present on Facebook, do live on Instagram, and recruit on LinkedIn. Brands that were already on social media wanted to optimize their presence, learn how to communicate more effectively with their customers through digital networks; when to communicate, what to communicate. Reach new audiences through campaigns.
