We never send the email before the phone call

If the journalist seems open, we ask if we can have permission to send a little more material about the story. In this case the journalist always says yes. Introductory Call and Pitch Email Presentation Email At this point the presentation email is ready and we send it while we are talking to the journalist.

This way we can check that the email arrives and ends up in the right hands. The phone call creates a personal relationship between us and the journalist, which makes the introductory email more serious than if someone simply sends a cold email.

Follow-up call Then there's a little employment phone number list wait, pray to the higher powers, and pat our chest a few times. Just kidding. Instead, we continue to work hard on our next proposal while keeping an eye on our email.

If our story doesn't appear in the media, we usually call the journalist and follow up. This gives us a chance to understand the rejection, which is a great way to learn how to do better next time.
