A US cosmetic surgery clinic has been fined $300,000 for posting false reviews about its services online, leading visitors to believe it had many satisfied customers.

The Lifestyle Lift institution, whose website is currently closed, performs facial rejuvenations and was punished for what is known as "astroturfing", a practice that consists of passing off bc data taiwan messages written by people from the organization as spontaneous comments from clients.

"This company sought to generate revenue by deceiving customers, which is cynical, manipulative and illegal," said Attorney General Cuomo, who presided over the case. "My office is and will continue to protect consumers from fraud and deception, including online astroturfing."

The investigation found that Lifestyle Lift's president believed negative online comments were damaging the company's reputation but decided to control online messages by instructing employees to mediate the forums.
