thousand kilometers of Russian roads.

Post by tanjimajuha20 »

Yandex Maps has updated panoramas of cities and towns across Russia. The service has photographed streets of more than 400 settlements — 40 of them were included in panoramas for the first time. Detailed photos will allow you to virtually walk around different regions: examine landmarks, find out what the entrance to the necessary building looks like, study the details of car and pedestrian routes.

This year, "Maps" took up-to-date photos of the streets of six million-plus cities — Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Krasnoyarsk, Nizhny Novgorod, and Yekaterinburg. New denmark telegram panoramas were also given to all the tourist cities of the Kaliningrad Region and the coast of the Krasnodar Region, the natural zones of Lake Baikal and Amur, the Caucasus Mountains, and the shores of the Curonian Spit. Maps paid special attention to the country's small towns. Thus, panoramas are now available for 40 cities and towns with small populations — the smallest of them is the village of Teriberka on the shore of the Kola Peninsula, where about 500 people live.

The filming of new panoramas took place from May to October 2024. As a result, "Maps" took more than 1.6 million panoramic images - this is about 55

Thanks to the high resolution of each photo, users can see almost any detail of the city in the panoramas: from the general appearance of buildings to ramps at entrances and signs with apartment numbers. High detail of the photos also helps to automatically update the information in Maps. With the help of computer vision, road signs, house numbers, traffic lights and other details are read from the panoramas. If the algorithm notices new data, it offers to add clarifications to the city map.

In addition, panoramas help create maps with detailed road markings, which are already available in 30 cities in Russia. For this, panorama reprojection technology is used, which superimposes panoramic images on satellite images taking into account perspective. It allows you to get an up-to-date image of roads and automate the digitization process. In the future, detailed roads will appear on maps of other cities in the country.
