What is DNS Hijacking and How to Prevent It on Your Website
DNS hijacking is an attack methodology in which DNS addresses are hijacked and traffic is redirected to malicious websites. When a query is made to a DNS server to view a website, the correct server may not respond. This means that the request may be redirected to a malicious website that is trying to collect personal information, such as login credentials.

How does DNS hijacking work?
When you type an address into your browser, a DNS record will be “queried.” If the search is new, or the record is no longer cached, your computer will have to communicate with a name server. Communication with the server is risky because the exchange of requests and responses often occurs without encryption, relying on trust in the system. This gives hackers several ways to intercept requests and redirect users.

Domain hijacking is when a hacker attempts to obtain information about the owner of a domain name in order to make unauthorized changes. This happens by changing the DNS name servers or transferring the domain name.
