Fewer vacancies, more applicants

Post by tanjimajuha20 »

More than half (53%) of respondents saw a trend towards a decrease in the number of vacancies, while, on the contrary, there were more job seekers on the market. However, the level of training of applicants was low, while a third of potential employers increased their requirements.

"There are many graduates chile whatsapp number database of testing courses with almost zero experience on the market, while most projects require at least a year of experience in commercial development. Requirements for skills and abilities in working with test documentation management tools and test automation are also increasing. This leads to companies being more picky about candidates, and the supply on the market is still large," says Artem Kostryukov. "But testing and QA (quality assurance of development at all stages) are complex areas that require many developed communication and work skills, as well as attentiveness, perseverance and critical thinking. But in general, we see that the courses are developing, and there are already a large number of connections between educational vendors and customer companies that take graduates on for internships. Test IT as a vendor of software for testers cooperates with many educational institutions, from online courses to universities, and helps to facilitate entry into the profession for students."

Igor Bessarab also noted that many people completed courses to train testers back in the pandemic years of 2020-2021: "The quality of training specialists is declining, in principle, due to the myth about the "easy way" to enter IT through testing. During the pandemic, various courses have graduated a huge number of software testing specialists, while the qualifications of specialists remain at the initial level. Online schools are massively training and actively promoting students as "middles", but the main problem here is that they overestimate the expectations of graduates. Students receive a lot of knowledge, but they do not reach the "middles" due to the lack of practical experience."

Irina Bibik, Head of the QA Department at SimbirSoft LLC, believes that the drop in demand in the testing field only concerns junior-level specialists: "It is obvious that the market is oversaturated with people who have completed completely different courses, without the relevant practical experience. The level of training of such specialists differs significantly from what is expected and requires additional investment in training before being admitted to the project. At the same time, the shortage of highly qualified specialists remains, and the trend to replace foreign software at critical infrastructure facilities is more than relevant. Now, more than ever, experienced specialists in testing with skills in automation, load testing, 1C and working with solutions from domestic vendors are needed. Therefore, many product companies are looking for specialists who are ready to solve business problems immediately after joining the project with minimal onboarding costs, and these are, as a rule, Middle levels and above."

Denis Vodeneyev sees the current situation as the costs of overheating in the labor market, which took place not long ago: "We see a desynchronization of the positioning of the candidates themselves with the demands of the market. Those who were previously called "junior+" often position themselves as confident "middle". The time of global implementations and resource shortages, especially in the financial sector, played a role here. The market is overheated by the trend of retaining specialists through salary increases, but without increasing responsibilities and tasks, and, consequently, professional development. Now we are beginning to see the consequences of that situation."

Alina Andreeva pointed out that the specialty is not included in university programs: "People often come to companies after completing educational courses. There are many educational platforms, and we began to notice that teachers teach differently on them. Therefore, when hiring, we check the candidate's level of knowledge and give a technical assignment related to the project to be worked on. We are looking for a person with knowledge, skills and the ability to understand our industry, regardless of education, courses taken. And if a person passes all the tests and trials, we hire him and continue to develop his skills within the team."
