In the context of Women's Month, we wanted to talk to an entrepreneur who has a tremendous story of inspiration. This is Fabiola Martínez, founder of Pupilina, a business focused on the stationery industry that was born to give a better future to her daughter "Pupi."
We want to tell you how this business came about, which today has a large community on social media, with more than 50,000 followers, who support Fabiola in all of her challenges and new goals.
How did it start?
There are few people who set up a shop overnight and Pupilina is no exception, so we wanted to know how she managed to create the company that it is today. Her first challenge was choosing a name for her venture… we know that this point is not easy and we often think too much, as Fabiola confirms.
“I had a hard time finding a name, I was looking for inspiration from other countries… at that time everything that ended in Company or concepts in English was in fashion… but finally I named it job seekers database in honour of my daughter’s name, and since she accompanied me to work, my clients knew her and it was a familiar name. In the end, it was something I always had, but we often complicate things by thinking too much.”
This first challenge is one of the lessons we can learn from this entrepreneur, since at certain times we put obstacles in our way when it comes to starting a business, even though we have the answer at our fingertips.
Pupilina did not always have all the products you can see on its website today , but the founder began selling on the streets of Estación Central. Over time, our client was visionary and moved her stand to a place closer to the students, since they are her target audience.
Tips for entrepreneurs
After a lot of work and sacrifice, she managed to apply for state courses such as SERCOTEC and learned what she needed to open her first store. It's been 6 years since that great milestone and one of the pieces of advice Fabiola gave us was the following:
“Always start with something, if you like making cake, you can start by selling slices and then open the bakery, start selling what you have, the rest happens along the way…”
