A Story About a Developer, Periscope, and Vtiger's One View

Post by ashammi238 »

It’s not every day that a light bulb goes on and we have a moment of Eureka, but then, not everyone is a genius like Archimedes or Nikola Tesla.
Sure, every now and then, mere mortals like you and me have a brilliant moment, even if it’s a Hollywood movie that inspires them. The story goes that Q was watching a movie about submarines. And when he saw a periscope rise out of the water and rotate 360 degrees to survey its surroundings, he had his Eureka moment.

Create a feature in Vtiger CRM that can give buy Phone Number List a 360 degree view of the customer on one screen!

Once the idea was pitched, many questions arose. Is it even possible? How many modules would need to be integrated to get the information on one screen? Is it possible to duplicate this data in different modules so that different people can view the same information? Do our customers use this feature? And finally, is it worth investing so many man-hours into one feature?

But then the culture at Vtiger is such that we often start looking for a solution when doubts start to form. So we started building a new feature from scratch around the periscope theory. And we called it One View .

Are there similar capabilities in the CRM space? Of course, there are many, but let's look at how One View differs from the others. Other companies: Give you fragmented views of customer data. Remember those calls you got from customer service reps wanting to know if you wanted a credit card or if you wanted to open a bank account? And in most cases, you already had an account with them! Or when you paid your phone bill a little late and ended up sharing the transaction number with different billing guys because their system wasn't up to date? So why is this happening? It's happening because the information is not being updated and displayed on a single platform. The market is oversaturated with CRM products that provide fragmented data, spread across different modules or applications used by different teams within the same organization. And how do they make you see all your customer information in one place? Easy - they tell you to buy another app that will stitch together and display the data pulled from all those other apps. Ugh... just thinking about it is exhausting.

Vtiger: Provides you with all the customer information in one place via One View.

The core philosophy of Vtiger is one customer - one product - one view ! We believe that all companies should be able to view relevant information for a customer in one place.

Let's take a pre-sales scenario to see how One View works.

Imagine you received an inquiry about a product. Before you meet or arrange a call with the buyer, what data would you like to see - the product they are interested in, the price of the product, the purchase history, the key decision makers? Well, you can use One View to collate all this data and more.
In fact, you can see how the customer has interacted with your company - past issues (tickets), etc. If the customer asks to speak later, you can instantly schedule a meeting. This is our One View, based on the periscope theory, which gives you an overview of your surroundings with relevant information. With One View, you can quickly know everything about the customer in just a few clicks.

You see, it will be easier to communicate and close the deal with the customer now. After all, you won't waste time switching between apps and different screens to find information. Nor will you ask other teams if they've updated their records.

Now let’s look at a post-sales scenario.

Let’s say your company sells industrial refrigerators and has received a bulk order. Your sales team would have conducted discussions, closed deals and quotes, provided discounts, and even provided post-sales support. And they would enter all this information into Vtiger CRM.
Next summer, your customer calls the help desk about a faulty refrigerator. Your field technician visits the site and in the process identifies requirements for additional products that can be sourced from your company. They can immediately use One View to access customer records and create a deal from the case record itself. They can take notes and alert the sales team to customer requirements.

Since the sales team will be able to see all the details, including notes on the requirements, they can easily follow up and initiate a conversation to close the deal. All with a few clicks.
We assure you that you will not waste time interacting with other teams or opening apps to find the information you need. And you will also have access to updated data at your fingertips. Now, doesn’t that add value to your workspace!

But what if the support or service team did not have a feature like One View in their mobile CRM? Or if they recorded the details in a different app than the one the sales team was using? Well, in that case, the following would happen:

Identifying the appropriate account managers and passing on information would take a lot of time.
The information lay in the database for a long time until someone returned to it.
And in some cases, new business opportunities would be lost entirely.
Don’t lose your way to a new deal. Sign up for your free trial today to see how One View works! You’ll be pleasantly surprised.

And finally, does One View have a definite advantage over similar features available in the market? Well, when we demonstrated One View at the last Gartner IT Symposium (Goa, November 2019), our competitors approached us (repeatedly, if we might add) and asked to see the demo. Some of us at Vtiger are still cleaning up…
