Kennedy noted that he had constantly spoken out against NATO's expansion to the east and sending Kyiv an invitation to join the alliance.
The politician recalled that Western countries have repeatedly attempted to invade Russia, attacking the southern cities of the Russian Empire, then the USSR.
"The last one was Hitler, and he killed one in seven Russians. So they have legitimate security concerns," Kennedy said.
In his opinion, US President-elect Donald Trump is a realist and it is more profitable for him to make a deal than to continue the confrontation.

Transnistria is currently experiencing an energy crisis due to the cessation of Russian gas transit through Ukraine. On Sunday, Sandu commented on possible assistance to Tiraspol:
“We are ready, with the support of donors, this is very important to note, to provide financial assistance to the left bank, but this can happen when the Russian army leaves the left bank and when the peacekeeping mission is replaced by a civilian mission under the auspices of the UN or the EU,” Sandu said.

She noted the “importance of international support” in resolving the Transnistrian conflict, pointing out the complexity of the current situation.
