Extension of the deadline for completing the RNBD

According to the provisions of External Circular 002 of November 3, 2015, the deadline for companies that, pursuant to the provisions of Law 1581 of 2012, are responsible for the processing of personal data (that is, all companies registered with Chambers of Commerce and mixed economy companies that are responsible for the processing of personal data), to register their databases in the National Database Registry (“RNBD”) of the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce (“SIC”), was November 8, 2016 .
Now, taking into account that as of October 31, 2015, the SIC ios database that less than 50% of the companies required to register their databases had complied with this obligation, the possibility of extending the deadline for registering the databases was announced by Decree.
Finally, the National Government through Decree No. 1759 of November 8, 2016 reports that it extends the deadline for those responsible for the processing of personal information in Colombia to register their databases in the National Database Registry before the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce, thus giving those responsible for the processing of data, private legal entities, companies and mixed economy companies registered in the 57 chambers of commerce of the country, the possibility of registering their respective databases no later than June thirtieth (30), 2017.
